With mobile technology becoming more and more prevalent, here are some facts that you may not know but which could change the face of your business:

1. Phones Are Not Just For Making Calls Any More
Apparently Smartphone owners only use the 'phone' 15% of the time. 56% of their time is spent on mobile apps and 19% is spent on email and messaging. So if 56% of their time is spent on mobile apps, it makes sense for branding to adapt accordingly. In the same way that Facebook and Twitter allow regular, social interaction with customers, mobile apps are heading the same way.

2. People are happy to spend money on mobile apps
When you produce an app for your business, you will decide whether or not to charge for it, and if so, how much! The good news is that people are willing to pay for mobile apps and a recent those looking to monetize their app directly. A recent survey by Nielsen shows how many people are willing to pay for apps, split by category. At the top of the list are gamers, where 93% have stated that they would be willing to pay for a gaming app. The figures make interesting reading, showing that even the lowest category (news) can yield a figure of 76% if set up correctly

3. You may be running out of time or even too late!
Those companies with a mobile marketing strategy are already learning valuable lessons and are most likely to come out as winners in the long run. Another risk of ignoring mobile is that you mobile could soon outstrip desktop as the way to get information online. With over three times more mobiles than laptops/desktops worldwide, the potential is already there.

4. Mobile commerce is VERY important
Athough shopping is not the primary activity associated with mobile devices, it is quickly growing as the commerce solution of choice. A survey of 15,000 mobile users across 14 countries found that 35% prefer shopping via mobile, compared to 15% who preferred shopping via their laptop or PC. With over $10M being transacted through Paypal each day, clearly this shows that mobile is not only providing an alternative to desktop/laptop, but is actually starting to replace them as the device of choice. As smartphone usage becomes more streamlined and user friendly, it is easy to see how this can be the case. Most of us take our phones everywhere (except the shower!) and as mobile browsing becomes more consistent, this will ultimate lead to sales for businesses that have anticipated this trend.
